History

"Harvey's Charcoal Furnace, situated in Botetourt county, was built about 1810, abandoned about 1825 and is now entirely gone." (Lesley 1859, 72 See References)

Location

The site of Harvey's Furnace is located just west of the intersection of 666 and 600 (this intersection of 666 and 600 is aprroximately 3 miles north of the intersection of 665 and 666 at Catawba Creek at Haymakertown and approximately 5 miles north of the intersection of 666 and 779). The site is located on Rocky Branch of Lees Creek. Nothing remains of the site.
